Rock
Creek
Fellowship

Rock Creek Fellowship aspires to be a visible picture of the warmth and wonder of Jesus Christ in the Southern part of Lookout Mountain and throughout the world. We are a grace-dependent community of the forgiven which exists to adore God in all arenas of life, to pursue Christ and His purposes in the world, and to present Christ in word and deed to each other, to our neighbors, and to the world. We aim to fulfill these purposes by prayerfully depending on the grace of God in the following areas:
Worship | Community | Teaching | Evangelism/Missions | Acts of Mercy

Worship

The Gospel depicts our mighty and lofty God stooping low to rescue sinners that they might exist to treasure Him in all their ways. Our worship will be similar in character. We will always strive to honor Christ in our worship by giving Him the attention, acclamation, and reverence that we gladly owe Him, and by making our worship services simple, intelligible, broadly participatory, family friendly, informal and edifying for the very sinners that He came to reclaim. We will seek to be a house of prayer which expects to meet with God when we gather together through His Word and His Sacraments and by His Spirit who binds us all together. Back to the Top

Community (Fellowship)

The Gospel reveals our God as purchasing a special people and their children as his prized possession, warmly inviting outsiders into that community, and calling them all to a deep unity and binding love which corresponds to that of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Our community aspires to be similar in character. We will always strive to demonstrate that we and our children belong to Jesus by loving each other as we have been loved, and by renouncing our rights for the sake of one another as he has renounced his for us. The result will be a “one-anothering” community fragrant with the welcoming love of God where intimate, transparent, healing relationships flourish and unity abounds. This community will be fostered through Sunday Schools, small groups, meals, and through weekly communications via email. Back to the Top

Teaching (Discipleship/Spiritual Formation)

The Gospel reveals a God who has astonishingly revealed His reconciling intentions to an undeserving world through His Word and now calls all folks everywhere to become followers of Jesus Christ. We aim through Sunday morning preaching, Sunday Schools for all ages, and small groups of various sorts to make the words of life assessable to all so that we might all be routinely nourished by the Words of God that Jesus reminded us that we could not live without. We see it as our privileged responsibility to create an environment where folks from all walks of life and of all ages are urged to trust and obey the words and ways of Jesus Christ. In other words, we aim to make apprentices of Jesus. Back to the Top

Evangelism and Missions

The Gospel presents a God who pursues those who don’t know Him with diligence and intentionality. As a body of those who have been happily captured by Christ, we will always strive to imitate His diligence and intentionality in pursuing those who don’t know Him in our community, in our workplaces, and throughout the world, with the extravagant, heart-melting love, grace, and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. We will be active in sending out workers who can carry the words of God’s good news to the uttermost parts of the earth both in long-term and short-term capacities. Back to the Top

Acts of Mercy

The Gospel portrays the God of all mercy taking on human flesh to meet the deepest needs of humanity. We will always strive to be a picture of his mercy as we seek, like our Lord, to meet the needs of our neighbors as well as those of our own fellowship, whether they be physical, spiritual, emotional or financial. We further aspire to enflesh the Gospel we believe by our care for widows, orphans, the disadvantaged, the sick, the lonely, the downcast, and any who are in need. Back to the Top
