The Gospel

The astounding good news of Jesus Christ and his reconciling mercies stands as the foundation of all that we are and do. The Gospel reminds us that we are not our own, but were bought with a price, and therefore we now live, as a church, to bring honor, adoration and glory to our King, through our worship, and through our faith, repentance, and obedience. For that reason, what matters most to him is what we desire to have most matter to us. We will dependently trust Christ to enable and empower us as we seek to live out the implications of the Gospel in every aspect of our lives. Back to Top

Dependent Prayer

Since we are weak and the work we have been given to do is great, we will always strive to be a fervently praying people for it is in Spirit-directed prayer that we access the power from God that we need to do the arduous work of advancing Christ’s kingdom and where we also gain the intimacy with God for which we so desperately long. Small Groups

Our commitment to be a deeply “one-anothering” community will be manifested in part by our use of small groups. Small groups will be used heavily for nurture, pastoral care, service, prayer, teaching. Back to Top

Simplicity

We want to encourage our folks to be involved where they live in meeting needs and loving their neighbors. We don’t want folks to be overworked or over committed. We won’t overload our folks with expectations of churchly commitments and programs. Back to Top

Generosity

We want to be a community characterized by its generosity in giving away freely our money, our time, and our lives to those who need it. Back to Top

Ministry of the Saints

We will always strive, by teaching, discipling, and fellowship to help everyone from the greatest to the least in the church to discover the talents and gifts that God has granted them and to mobilize them to fruitfully employ those gifts for the building up and expansion of Christ’s gracious rule over the earth and it’s inhabitants. We rely heavily on volunteers to run the ministries of the church and encourage widespread involvement from the congregation in our congregational worship. Back to Top

Safety and Rest

We want the environment at Rock Creek to be one of rest, where folks meet Christ and believe the good news of his gospel. We want it furthermore to be a place where folks feel safe with their secrets. We believe with Martin Luther that “the church is an inn for the sick and an infirmary for the convalescing.” Back to Top

Children

We wish to help parents to impress the words and ways of Jesus on the hearts of our little ones. We hope to assist in this critical endeavor through Sunday schools and by making children of all ages feel warmly welcomed during all parts of our worship services. We have Sunday classes for children of all ages, and nursery available during the worship service for children five and under. Back to Top
