Introducing our New Children’s Ministry Coordinator
Jul 1st, 2010 | Happenings
The Session at Rock Creek, in recognition of the tremendous calling we have been given to come alongside parents in the daunting and privileged task of impressing upon our children both the words and ways of our Savior, has hired Miss Elizabeth Cain to serve as our Children’s Ministry Coordinator in a part-time capacity.
Elizabeth or “Liz” as you may sometimes refer to her, is a senior at Covenant College planning to graduate in December. She has a zeal for the nurture of children, is a warm presence in our midst, and is an excellent administrator. We’re confident she will continue the already impressive start that Kristen Jelley and Katie Conrad have made (and all voluntarily!) for the past several years. We are thankful for Kristen and Katie who have, together with many of you, poured so much heart, life, and time into the nurture of children these past several years.
And as you may or may not know, in the next week or two, we will be collecting bids for the building expansion at Rock Creek Durham. Once these bids come in, we’ll be in the position to start raising money, and then, will be able to begin construction to add needed bathroom and nursery/children’s space at Rock Creek—plus, it will open up additional space for us in the sanctuary and upstairs. We’ll be showing you plans once we’ve finalized the process in the next few weeks.
This is an exciting time as we think about babies, elementary students, middle and high-schoolers and all the ways we can best come alongside the sacred calling entrusted first to you parents, and secondarily to us as Jesus’ church to raise these children to know whose they are, and why they are—that they were made to belong to Jesus and were made to live in the world as little Christ’s—this is what we’re striving for, praying for, building for, and expectantly awaiting for Jesus to do for us and through us.
So please welcome Elizabeth Cain as you see her around! Her email address is elizabeth@rockcreekfellowship.org. Let’s keep expectantly praying that we and our children will be made into a living picture of the warmth and wonder of our Savior in our words and deeds both here on Lookout Mountain and in all the places to which we will be summoned.
