Mercy Ministry

The deacons have recently developed ministry teams within the diaconate in an effort to better appropriate time, money, and resources in the meeting of congregational and community needs.  Diaconal teams include Facilities, Projects, Alms, and Communications.  Each team is working to develop a corporate sense of stewardship and liberality in giving complemented with practical means for getting RCF congregants involved in the lives of those within our community.

Facilities Team—Nathan Brauer

The Facilities Team is in the midst of working with members of the Session in drawing up plans to alleviate space concerns as RCF continues to grow.  The team is managing maintenance and building improvements at both Durham and Lula Lake.

Projects Team—John Conrad

The Projects Team just recently commissioned Olan Mills to develop a RCF church directory.  The team is currently investigating RCF becoming a host site for Angel Food Ministries and coordinated the dispersal of community food boxes with one of RCF’s women’s Bible study groups.

Alms Team—Dick Griffith

The Alms Team oversees the monetary dissemination of discretional diaconate funds.  The team, in conjunction with Projects and Communications, is continually seeking to identify and alleviate needs of the RCF body and the surrounding community.

Communications Team—Matt Jelley

The Communications Team is currently working on improving communications between church leadership and congregants.  The team is likewise organizing diverse congregant groups to investigate the nurture of our children, the involvement of our college students, and the maintenance of relationships between RCF Durham and RCF Lula Lake.

How can you get involved?

Get in touch with Matt Jelley and express your interest in being a part of what is going on in our mercy ministries.  The Communications Team works as a filter for Facilities, Projects, and Alms, appropriating resources and skill sets to specific tasks and ministry opportunities.
